High Wood
Went to High Wood for lunch. More of a snack lunch, after feeding the fish at the Botanic Gardens.
The restaurant is housed in the ex-Singapore Flying Club near Tanglin.
Food - Overall D
Chicken Wings - F
Covered with way too much batter
Calamari Rings - D
Covered with too much batter
Mussels baked in Cheese - C
Mussels are too chewy, the cheese is overbaked. Too dry, not juicy. (The portion was supposed to be 12 but only 10 mussels were served. Had I not been alert...)
German (pork) Sausages - C
Supposed to be 7 sausages but they cut them up to slightly brown the sides as well. I doubt there were really 7.
Cafe Latte - C
Ordinary.
Orange Juice - D
Too sweet, too much artificial looking sacs parading as pulp
Service - no service charge, not much service, no grade.
Ambience - D
Fell way short of expectations
The lunch was dismal enough that we wanted to leave. Asked for the sausages and the calamari rings to be packed. When we took out the takeaways later, we realised only 7 pieces of sausages were in the plastic container. We certainly thought we had packed more than that. Maybe the sausages dropped out of the teeny weeny air vents in the container and the plastic bag ate it. But we checked plastic bag's stomach and intestines. No sign of ingestion by the trusty plastic bag.
Erm...
Another struck off the list.
